Classes are held in URC (United Reform Church) Hall, 6 Church Street, Twyford, Reading, RG109DR. Parking is limited at the hall so Pilates participants are encouraged to walk from home where possible or to park at Waitrose (2 hours free parking) or Polehampton Close Car Park (Pay and Display) both a 3-minute walk away.
Classes are kept small to ensure good levels of supervision and so that Jo can tailor the exercises to suit the class participants. All classes are 50 mins duration. Classes are also available over Zoom.
Pilates is an exercise approach developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, after whom it was named. Joseph Pilates called his method ‘Contrology’. Pilates aims at improving the core strength, posture, flexibility, strength, endurance and body awareness. Pilates focuses on 7 key principles which are breathing, control, precision, routine, concentration, centring and flow.
Clinical Pilates tailors the experience to each individual. Exercises have been modified from Joseph Pilates original matwork exercises so as to suit people recovering from injury, post surgery or returning to fitness. As a Senior Physiotherapist with over 20 years experience Jo is able to use her skills to ensure the exercises are performed correctly and safely and to modify them if necessary.
